We take turnkey VSAT systems very seriously. Very few of our clients are satellite experts, many are not even satellite knowledgeable, so we take the responsibility of managing every stage of the installation.
Different needs have different configurations, so the installation plan starts with a question and answer session with the client. When our people understand the purpose of the VSAT installation they recommend the exact configuration required for equipment and for bandwidth.
While the clients equipment is being installed we make provision at our Teleport hub for matching
satellite communications equipment to be assigned to the client. This matching equipment provides the point to point satellite circuit giving our clients access to the Public Internet and VoIP services for either world-wide calling or connection to a private network.
For each client we book satellite transponder capacity using the satellite that is best placed to connect our client from Africa or the Americas back to the USA.
It is normal for a client to change requirements over the length of a bandwidth contract. In most cases increases or decreases in satellite capacity can be changed within a few days to meet the client’s requirements.
In cases where our clients have several VSAT sites it is possible for them to share one satellite link across all of their sites. This type of shared bandwidth service can be very beneficial to the nodes on the network. At times when one or more of the branches is not fully utilizing their shared of the bandwidth, another of the branches can grab the unused bandwidth – we call this “bursting”.
At our Miami Teleport hub site we have spare equipment racks where our clients can install a variety of equipment configured to suit their particular requirements. Corporate routers, VoIP equipment and Bandwidth managers are examples of co-lo equipment.
Every satellite circuit has two ends; at one end is our client in Africa or South America with a need for an Internet connection, at the other end is our site in Miami or Italy where we land the clients signal. The satellite circuit connects the teleport to the client and brings Internet directly to the remote location. Read on to learn more about Teleport or Earth Station.
A full Teleport is an impressive place, large dishes, high power amplifiers, redundant connections to the Internet and multiple backup power generators. At the client side we try to install much smaller scale equipment. We recommend the smallest dish and the lowest power amplifier that will get the job done. Large dishes and high power amplifiers cost money, and we try to save our clients cost where possible.
After a client’s equipment has been installed, our Teleport engineers guide the client through the initial stages of setting up a high quality, reliable, link.
When the satellite link is verified to be working correctly, the final step is to make the connections from the Teleport to the client’s final service destination. In most cases the final destination is the US Public Internet service, a VoIP provider or sometimes the connection is to the client’s own network.
Once the client accepts the link, it is put into permanent monitoring mode. Alarms are set on the modems to alert the Teleport employee if the link power drops below acceptable levels. Should that happen, the Teleport personnel contact the client and together they solve the problem.

Since the year 2000 we have been offering full service to clients; full service means that we sell the equipment, we assist with installation and then supply the direct satellite connection from one of our teleports to the client site.
We sell Bandwidth & Satellite Connections throughout the continent of Africa and South America.
Some clients require dedicated C-Band service, while others prefer cheaper shared bandwidth service, perhaps in KU Band.
We service a wide range of clients with complete turnkey satellite communications, we evaluate the client’s needs, specify the equipment required and arrange transportation to the location.

When you have broken satellite equipment, ask us for an evaluation because we refurbish & repair satellite equipment.
When equipment breaks and the owner doesn’t know what to do, he thinks of two solutions, either return it to the manufacturer, or throw it away.
These two common answers are also the ones that cost the most.
Over many years of testing and repairing our own equipment we have built a stock of spare parts – in many cases we have something to fix obsolete items that the manufacturers cannot.
While we don’t guarantee that we can fix everything, give us a chance to look it over and tell you the truth.
If the answer is that we cannot fix it, then we will probably have something similar in our used equipment inventory that will solve your problem.
We Purchase Surplus Satellite Equipment and when Dow Jones closed all seventeen of their satellite locations we purchased every item from every site. We travelled from Florida to the State of Washington and everywhere in between to complete the purchase.
A year later In 2014 we purchased over two hundred KU band BUCs from a company switching to a different supplier and all of the AVL disaster communication antennas from the US Red Cross.
That acquisition forced us to double our warehouse size so that we could keep everything on site in Florida.
This photograph shows us in April 2015, two of our engineers in the middle of removing three 9M vertex and a 4.8M antenna from a site in San Diego. The reflector of one antenna is strapped and about to be lifted from the base.
The entire project was completed in just eleven days.

Because we deal in Used Satellite Equipment the most important part of our operation is testing the equipment before shipping. If we ship an item that is later returned for repair, we have lost all profit on the sale.
The most rigorous testing is given to our amplifiers. Using a signal generator, a power meter and a spectrum analyzer we put all amplifiers through a range of tests at various RF frequencies. The results of each test are recorded on a spread sheet and made available to the buyer.
All other items such as modems, converters etc. have their own test protocol but the goal is always to give the buyer confidence that used equipment can perform as well as the brand new equivalent, and that the purchasers’s money will be well spent on equipment that will perform as needed.
All Used Satellite Equipment is tested twice at a minimum; the initial test is when the equipment is first received into inventory. At this stage a decision is made to scrap it, send it out for repair, or place it on the shelf, labeled “good for resale.”
It may be weeks or months before a new buyer purchases an item, but once more the item is tested just prior to shipping.
Everybody knows that used satellite equipment will be cheaper than new gear, and so the two major questions you must ask of your supplier, does it work and will they stand behind it?
Before answering the question on behalf of my company, I would like to explain our guarantee.
If you ever receive equipment that fails during the warranty period, you return it to us, carefully packaged, we test and repair it and then pay the cost of returning it to you.
Unfortunately for us, when this happens, our profit on the sale disappears, and so you can be certain that we work hard to ensure that these failures are few.
If repair or replacement is impossible then we will refund your initial purchase price.
It is impossible to always stock the exact piece of used satellite equipment a client needs, but we do have good relationships with the manufacturers, and we can often source brand new equivalent at discounted prices.
